The Grands Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris recognise current and future creative talent in the worlds of design, fashion and craftsmanship. These awards illustrate the City of Paris’ strong commitment to supporting these sectors, which are essential to the capital’s influence and appeal.
Paris has always been associated with creativity. It was therefore natural for the capital to create an award recognising this unique quality. Thus, in 1993, the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris was established as an annual award for a talented designer.
Today, the awarding of the Grands Prix is one of the components of the municipal policy to support creative professions. These sectors of activity are a real asset for Paris in terms of economic activity and employment, cultural and tourist dynamism, neighbourhood revitalisation and international influence.
The Grands Prix de la Création awards eight winners: three Revelation Prizes and three Commitment Prizes in each discipline (design, fashion and crafts), one Fashion Accessories Prize and one Jewellery Accessories Prize.
The Revelation Prize rewards a professional whose project is promising, creative and has development potential. The prize acts as a talent scout.
The Commitment Prize rewards a professional for their creative approach, research, innovation and ability to provide solutions to the challenges and uses of our time.
The Fashion Accessories Prize, created in partnership with ADC - Au-Delà du Cuir, recognises emerging or established accessory projects (leather goods, shoes, gloves, belts, etc.).
The Jewellery Accessories Prize is open to accessory projects in the jewellery and fashion jewellery sectors. This prize was created in partnership with Francéclat.
The Grands Prix de la Création is a national competition open to professionals in the fields of design (product, space, service, culinary, graphic, etc.), fashion (ready-to-wear, fashion accessories, jewellery, etc.) and crafts (cabinet-making, mosaic work, ceramics, glasswork, textile design, etc.) from all over France.
A prize of €18,000 is awarded to the winners. Each prize is endowed with €8,000 by the City of Paris and supplemented by the Fonds pour les Ateliers de Paris (Paris Workshop Fund) through private partners: the Fédération Française du Prêt à Porter Féminin (French Federation of Women’s Ready-to-Wear), ADC, Francéclat, the Galeries Lafayette Group, ESMOD, Roger Pradier and Victoire.
In addition to the prize money, the winners will benefit from visibility offered by media and associate partner.
